For those who missed the Planetarium party on August 4, here is a link to the Facebook Live Video from the event.
The Midway Woods Association board is proud to announce that on August 4, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. our neighborhood’s own Chris De Pree (Director of the Bradley Observatory at Agnes Scott College) will host a virtual Planetarium Party via Zoom using the Stellarium software.
More details and a link to registration can be found at the Midway Woods Neighbors Facebook group — https://www.facebook.com/groups/midwaywoodsneighbors or https://www.facebook.com/events/310551143658386 for the event registration info. Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting. Don’t forget to have the Zoom client installed on your computer (you won’t be able to join the live feed using Zoom in your web browser).
We’ll start the live feed and live-cast the event to Facebook starting at 6:30 p.m. Chris will lead us on a tour of the night sky, host an astronomy Q&A and give us all a reason to gather online and hang out.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes neighbors getting together and meeting to help make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Typically National Night Out is typically held on the first Tuesday of August, but due to the continuing COVID pandemic, the National Night Out parent organization is recommending that all NNO 2020 areas celebrate on October 6th this year. The association board was meeting to discuss what we might do in place of NNO in August and Chris suggested hosting a virtual planetarium show. We all loved the idea and hope you can join us as well at 6:30 p.m. on August 4. Don’t forget to register beforehand!
