Volunteers from Midway Woods and Rivers Alive will be gathering to help clean up Shoal Creek south of Dearborn Park and north of Memorial Drive. We’ll be gathering at the corner of Oldfield Road and Catherine Street (see map) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22nd. You are warmly invited to join us!
Where: Meet at the corner of Oldfield Road and Catherine Street
When: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22nd
What: Shoal Creek and Oldfield Road trash clean-up
Trash tends to accumulate quickly along Oldfield Road and in the creek that runs alongside it. We’re assembling a crew on April 22 to see what we can do to clean up the trash and beautify this part of our neighborhood!
As part of the clean-up event, Steven Blackburn of Rivers Alive will provide a demonstration of water quality monitoring.
Just show up at 9 a.m. on April 22nd and we can put you to work! Gloves, long pants, proper footwear, water bottle recommended.
Optional: rakes (small ones work well), shovel for big items, and grabbers. (We should have some grabbers available for people to use.)
Do be prepared to get a little dirty.
Rivers Alive t-shirts will be provided to participants. https://riversalive.georgia.gov/.
To RSVP and for more information, contact us at midwaywoodscommunications@gmail.com
We hope to see you there!!
Future clean-ups are planned to tackled other areas of the neighborhood where trash builds up as well.
