Neighborhood Street Clean-up — Saturday, January 13th

Trash tends to accumulate quickly along numerous streets in our neighborhood, including Oldfield Road and in the creek that runs alongside it. We’re assembling a crew on January 13th to see what we can do to clean up the trash and beautify the streets in our neighborhood!

Volunteers from Midway Woods will be gathering gathering at the corner of Oldfield Road and Catherine Street (see map) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13th.  You, and your family, friends, work colleagues, distant cousins, high school classmates you have not seen in ages, etc., etc. are warmly invited to join us!

Where: We’ll gather at the corner of Oldfield Road and Catherine Street and head out from there along Oldfield Road and to other spots in the neighborhood needing attention

When: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13th

Just show up at 9 a.m. on January 13th and we can put you to work! Gloves, long pants, proper footwear, water bottle recommended.

Optional: rakes (small ones work well), shovels for big items, and grabbers. (We should have some grabbers available for people to use.)

And as a reminder, if you see trash dumped along streets in the neighborhood, you can get in touch with the Dekalb County Beautification/Litter Abatement program by calling (404) 294-2010, or filling out this form with a request to address a need for mowing, tree-trimming, litter collection or illegal dumping remediation.

Dearborn Park workday on Sunday, January 14th in the park

Join the Dearborn Area Nature Alliance on Sunday, January 14th from 10 a.m. to noon to help clear Dearborn Park of invasive species.

Where: Dearborn Park Pavilion

When: 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, January 14

The group plans to meet at the park pavilion and clear ivy in that area. It’s the best time to strip ivy and, if it has rained the day before, pull up ivy from the ground.

Perhaps DANA’S favorite goat, Casper, will be there! Come and see!

Bring  clippers, shovels, yard trash bags if you have them, and water to keep hydrated. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts and gloves. DANA volunteers will be on hand to help instruct you on what is needed and get you started.

Help your park while enjoying a safe and fun outdoor activity!
